BAREFOOT - JOLAHSTHOUGTS

Barefoot

I curse the fate that renders the child barefoot
The same that ushered him into a world with nothing present for him
My eyes sting at the very sight of him
For I see his tattered brownish clothes
which do very little to cover up his almost skinless body
I see his pale, sunken eyes that tell a long tale of starvation
I curse the fate that renders his bare feet tireless machineries
The kismet that renders his mouth an abode for pitiful narrations
For it leaves his hands stuck on the money bowl
While the highway remains his home
I curse the fate that only allows me stick my hand in the money bowl
Just to watch him run to another.

December! A time to love

Everyday, I come across numerous individuals with sad stories to tell. Their appearances alone tell of their hunger, it screams poverty and lack, for they are usually clad in tattered  and unclean clothes. These individuals who constantly run around from one passerby to another, hoping they would be given even the littlest amount. I see both young and old sitting on the bare floor ,in tattered clothes, looking up at every passerby with sorrow in their eyes.
It's the month of December! Many of us are going to spend our days in merriment eating 'party jollof', drinking to our fill and even picking our teeth. It's the month of celebration, after all. However, in my opinion, this month should not be reserved for celebration alone but to show love to as many people as we can. Family, friends and yes, even the homeless, orphans, physically challenged and beggars, because While we are wining and dining they have little or nothing at all.
The thought that you cannot afford to spare money may cross your mind but I'm happy to inform you that there are solutions. Our old clothes, leftover 'party jollof', old shoes and many other items causing unnecessary clutter in our homes. Keeping in mind that these things are probably of little or no use to us, giving them out would definitely go a long way in improving the quality of life of someone out there. Nothing is too little to give out. For every little gift counts! Your decision to make your December a time to love,  can help someone scream 'Merry Christmas' much louder! πŸ˜„  πŸ’•  πŸŽ‡  πŸŽ…  🎊
